People engage in therapy for many reasons, often seeking to change certain aspects of their lives or themselves. Typically, this desire stems from discomfort, unhappiness, or unease in relationships, whether with oneself or others, or due to an unexpected life event causing upset or trauma. In such cases, neurodivergent therapy and trauma counselling can provide tailored support. The goal of psychotherapy services is to help you understand the roots of your unhappiness and facilitate positive changes, empowering you to move forward in life and find happiness.
Therapy is for everyone, including those seeking neurodivergent therapy. Currently, there is shame associated with the idea of asking for help, which may stem from our cultural conditioning to 'keep calm and carry on' or the belief that 'big boys don't cry.' The truth is, we all need someone to talk to and share our thoughts, feelings and experiences with, and sometimes there are things we simply can't share with our friends and family for various reasons. This is where psychotherapy services come in! I will listen and understand your needs when others can't, helping you work through any issues or feelings you have, including those related to trauma counselling, without judgment.
Therapy, including neurodivergent therapy, is typically delivered face to face in a formal counselling room setting. Up until March 2020, approximately 97% of psychotherapy services were provided this way. However, due to the pandemic, there was an immediate shift to delivering trauma counselling and other services digitally or by telephone. I have a counselling office but primarily provide therapy online, either by telephone or secure video call.
There is no specific time scale or limit applied to neurodivergent therapy, as it varies depending on the individual and the issues they wish to address through psychotherapy services. I have worked with clients who have felt better after just a few sessions, while others have engaged in trauma counselling for much longer periods. I would recommend a minimum of six to ten sessions, with regular reviews of your progress to assess where you are in the process. Ending therapy is a goal we can work towards together.
Therapy fees for psychotherapy services are £60 per session, lasting 60 minutes. Clients seeking neurodivergent therapy sometimes prefer longer sessions (75-90 mins) for various reasons, which will be discussed during the initial consultation. Fees for these extended sessions will be adjusted accordingly. Additionally, concessions for counselling are available and will also be discussed at the initial consultation.
If you have any other questions about neurodivergent therapy, trauma counselling, or psychotherapy services in general, please do not hesitate to get in touch using the form on the contact me page.
